This Saturday, the 12th ranked Florida Gators (7-2) will travel north to face their old ball coach and the South Carolina Gamecocks in Columbia. Game time is 12:30 PM Eastern time at Williams-Brice Stadium.

When he was the head man in Florida, Steve Spurrier never once lost to South Carolina. Saturday, he will try to turn that stat around. The Gamecocks, winners of 4 straight, will try to play spoiler. With a win, they will ruin the Gators' shot at an SEC title. Also with a win, South Carolina will win five SEC conference games in a row for the first time in school history.

Last week, South Carolina got their fourth SEC win in a row when they beat Arkansas 14-10. The win was keyed by Blake Mitchell's 2 touchdown passes and two big stops late in the fourth quarter.

Florida finds itself a game behind SEC east leader Georgia. Despite being the team to hand the Bulldogs their only loss, the Gators need to get the win Saturday and then have Georgia lose one of their next two.

Just last week, it was the play of quarterback Chris Leak that prevented the Gators from suffering one of their worse losses in years. Leak's 3 touchdowns, including the one in double overtime, helped Florida to sneak past surprising Vanderbilt 49-42. In the second overtime, Leak found Jemalle Cornelius from 15 yards out for the game winning score. The victory was sealed on an interception later in the overtime.

With Urban Meyer guiding the Gators and Spurrier at the helm of the Gamecocks, look for a ton of points to be put up on the board.

The last time the Florida Gators lost to the South Carolina Gamecocks was a 7-0 defeat in 1939. Since then, the Gators have won the last 14 and lead the all time series 19-3-3.
