Jordan Cogdon kicked a 40-yard field goal with 1:10 remaining in the 4th quarter to help the Nebraska Cornhuskers escape with a 27-25 victory over the Kansas State Wildcats. The win snaps a three-game losing state for Nebraska and improves their record to 6-4. The Wildcats have now dropped five in a row and stand at 4-6 on the season.

Both teams made numerous mistakes throughout the day. Nebraska committed three turnovers in the game, including a fumble by Cory Ross that led to Kansas State's first touchdown. The Cornhuskers were also stopped twice in their own end zone for a pair of safeties in the 3rd quarter. Meanwhile, the Wildcats had problems of their own to contend with. Kicker Jeff Snodgrass missed two extra-point attempts – which turned out to be the difference in the game, and the offense also failed to convert a 2-point try in the 2nd quarter.

Nebraska quarterback Zac Taylor completed 21-of-31 passes for 220 yards and 2 TDs before getting knocked out at the beginning of the 4th quarter. Taylor now holds the school record for most passing yards in a season with 2,094.

The Cornhuskers presented a more balanced attack today than in the past several weeks. After carrying the ball just 36 times in the last three games, running back Cory Ross got 26 touches out of the backfield and gained 70 yards on the day. He also scored from 1 yard out late in the 1st quarter.

Wide receiver Nate Swift had a big day for Nebraska, with seven receptions for 109 yards and 2 TDs, including a long of 34 on what would be Taylor's record-breaking pass.

In contrast, Kansas State's passing game was virtually non-existent through three quarters of play. QB Allan Evridge didn't record a completion until the six-minute mark of the 3rd quarter when he hit Yamon Figurs for a 10-yard gain. Evridge finished with five completions for 77 yards and an interception.

Evridge had a much better day rushing the ball, as he racked up 138 yards and 2 touchdowns on 30 carries. Thomas Clayton also had some success on the ground for the Wildcats, picking up 91 yards in the game.

Next up: The bowl-eligible Nebraska Cornhuskers wrap up the regular season on the road against Colorado. Kansas State will host Missouri in their final game of the season.
