Texas A&M head coach Dennis Franchione is facing a very difficult task this week. He has to try and convince his players that they still have a shot at a bowl game this season. All that Texas A&M has to do to be bowl eligible is beat the Texas Longhorns. That is possible isn't it?

Fat chance.

The Aggies have had a ton of trouble stopping the pass this season. In fact, they are the third worst pass defense in all of division 1-A. Now they find themselves up against a quarterback, Vince Young, who can throw all over the place as well as take off running if the play calls for it. Young will solidify his status as Heisman Trophy frontrunner against a porous Texas A&M stop unit.

One of the only things that Texas A&M has going for them is the fact that they will host the Longhorns and that this is a huge rivalry game that should get the Aggies as amped up as possible for a team that is 5-5 and has suffered two straight conference losses.

If QB Reggie McNeal can somehow match Vince Young's production and put some points on the board early the rivalry atmosphere could make this a competitive offensive shootout. Still, even if that happens it is unlikely that the Aggies will be able to keep pace with the explosive Longhorns.

On paper this matchup does not look like it will be competitive at all, but then again, that's why they play the game. Does Texas A&M have some magic left in the tank for their fans or will this mostly disappointing season end on a down note? We'll find out for sure this Saturday at noon.
