Texas A&M head coach Dennis Franchione is looking forward to coaching the West team in the upcoming East-West Shrine Game which will be played on January 21st in San Antonio after being held for 80 years in San Francisco.

In his weekly Friday with Fran column on his web site, the coach stated that he was honored to be chosen to lead the team. He will have quite a few familiar faces to work with, as three Aggies and several Big 12 players will be involved.

The game is for players who just completed their senior seasons, and Texas A&M will be represented by quarterback Reggie McNeal, safety Jaxson Appel and defensive lineman Johnny Jolly. You can expect each of those guys to be involved in a good part of the action.

Among notable Big 12 players on the squad is Texas Tech running back Taurean Henderson, who set an NCAA record for passes caught by a running back this year with 62, while also gaining 860 yards on the ground and a total of 22 touchdowns.

Also from the Big 12 on the roster will be offensive lineman E.J. Whitley from Texas Tech, defensive back Willie Andrews from Baylor, offensive lineman Chris Chester and linebacker Clint Ingram from Oklahoma, and offensive lineman Jerome Clay from Kansas State.

According to Franchione, coaches and players are scheduled to report on January 14 for an introductory dinner. The week's activities will also include an NFL Work Day that gives the players extra exposure to the pro scouts that attend.
