On the Texas A&M recruiting front, it seems the main player on the minds of Aggies coaches and fans alike is standout Klein (Texas) Collins running back Michael Goodson. After he went back on his verbal commitment to attend Oklahoma State last month, A&M was given another crack at landing Goodson, who has been compared favorably to Oklahoma's Adrian Peterson.

During pre-game scrimmages for Saturday's Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, he has at times looked like the best player on the field. Goodson has shown he can run inside and outside, but has also come away with a few minor injuries to his ankle and groin, which would bring his durability into question.

While several of the participants in the game will also announce their choice of college on Saturday, Goodson will not be one of those. Indications are that he'll wait closer to the end of the month, but he's narrowed it down to Texas A&M and USC.

He visited the Trojan campus in late November, followed by a trip to College Station earlier this month. He met with Aggie coaches, including Dennis Franchione and took in a Texas A&M basketball game with a few members of the football team.

USC seems to get just about every recruit they have pursued the past few years, so it'll be a major accomplishment if Franchione and his staff could land Goodson. While not as huge as Texas' Rose Bowl victory over the Trojans on Wednesday night, this would still be a nice win for the Aggies over the Men from Troy.
