When Vince Young and his Texas Longhorns matched up with the USC Trojans on Wednesday night at least one out of every ten human beings in the U.S. sat down to watch the battle on television. At least those were the preliminary figures according to Nielsen Media Research.

According to Nielsen, 35.6 million viewers tuned in to see the Longhorns come from behind to beat the USC Trojans in Pasadena, making it the most watched college bowl game since the start of Nielsen's electronic database 15 years ago. The game actually outranked every World Series since 2001 and was also the highest rated football game on ABC (college or pro) in the past 15 years.

The best part is that it's more than likely that none of those 35 million plus viewers were disappointed. Somehow the game itself actually exceeded all of the pre-game hype.

It was the greatest college football game, and the greatest individual performance in a football game, that I have ever seen.
