In what could hardly be considered a surprise, Wisconsin Badgers running back Brian Calhoun has announced his decision to forego his senior season and enter the NFL draft. After transferring from Colorado and sitting out the 2004 season, Calhoun scored the college gridiron by rushing for 1636 yards with 22 touchdowns as well catching 53 passes for 573 yards and 2 touchdowns.

At 5'10' and 195 pounds he is not the prototypical NFL back, but the success of other smallish ball carriers like this year's rookie of the year, Cadillac Williams, and Falcons' standout Warrick Dunn will make it easier for Brian Calhoun to get drafted on the first day.

Although no official announcement has been made, both Calhoun and head coach Bret Bielema have confirmed the news.

MORE LEGAL TROUBLES FOR COLLEGE PLAYERS

Just one day after Marcus Vick made national headlines for being arrested, two more college football players are making headlines due to legal troubles of their own.

Louisiana Tech's leading rusher, Mark Dillard, has been arrested and charged with forcible rape after allegedly forcing an acquaintance to have sex with him. He was released from jail on Monday after posting a $40,000 bond. University officials say that Dillard is suspended indefinitely. The incident allegedly occurred last Wednesday.

Also, while Wisconsin RB Brian Calhoun is celebrating his jump to the NFL another Badgers' back is fighting sexual assault and battery charges. Running back Booker Stanley was charged Monday with sexual assault, battery and bail jumping in connection with two alleged fights with his girlfriend.

Since Stanley is already facing battery and disorderly conduct charges for his alleged role in a street fight last April and since he was suspended from the team in December after his initial arrest for allegedly fighting with his girlfriend there's a good chance that Stanley will not be suiting up for Wisconsin Badgers in 2006.
