The Colorado State Rams found some gems this recruiting season as Head Coach Sonny Lubick took most of his 2006 class from Colorado and California as usual.

However this year he also spent time in Florida, nabbing star linebacker Michael Johnson out of Weston and gifted runner John Mosure, who led Dade County (Miami) in rushing last season. Neither of these South Florida recruits is likely to crack the starting lineup right away but they should contribute in a significant way to Colorado State football in the years to come.

The downside of the CSU recruiting campaign was the fact that they reeled in only one player ranked in Scout.com's top 100; offensive lineman Ryan Griffith out of California. Griffith started and lettered three of his four years in high school and brings good agility to a rather slow offensive line. It would have been nice to snag a few more blue chip caliber recruits, but one is better than none in the final analysis.

Many of the '06 recruits will pay immediate dividends in spring camp, mostly helping the upper classmen fight harder for their positions. Then again, with Lubick at the helm you can never count out some of them seeing game action. This year's recruits bring solid talent heading into the 2006 season and should help the Colorado State Rams fight for top honors in the Mountain West sooner than later.
