Tony Dungy and the Indianapolis Colts may have taken a huge step towards reaching the Super Bowl by signing Corey Simon. The veteran defensive tackle is considered to be one of the best interior lineman in the league. The deal has not been officially announced, but according to published reports both Simon and the Colts have agreed in principle to all aspects of the deal.

At least three other NFL franchises were vying for Corey Simon's services after the Philadelphia Eagles lifted the franchise tag off him this past Sunday. Among those teams that reportedly showed interest were the Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins, and Seattle Seahawks.

Last year, Corey Simon netted six sacks and 32 total tackles for the Eagles. In his career, Simon has averaged over six sacks per season. The Indianapolis Colts believe that he can become a dominant force on the interior of their defensive line in the mold of Hall of Famer-to-be Warren Sapp.
