The Indianapolis Colts signed Pro Bowl running back Edgerrin James to a 1 year franchise player tender. James will receive $8.076 million in 2005, a 20% increase over 2004.

Last December, the Colts re-signed Pro Bowl receiver Marvin Harrison to a multi-year contract, paving the way for them to place the tag on the 26 year-old James. In 2004, James rushed for 1,548 yards and 9 touchdowns.

The fourth overall pick of the 1999 draft for the Colts from the University of Miami, James won rushing titles in his first 2 years as a professional. He has rushed for 7,720 yards in 80 games.
