Effective linebackers are often said to have a "nose for the ball," and that certainly applies to Danny Lansanah of Connecticut. But Lansanah has also demonstrated that he has hands for the ball, as well -- eight career interceptions as a Huskies linebacker.

Although Lansanah is a bit short by today's NFL standards (his height fluctuates between 5-foot-11 and 6-1, depending on the source), the verve with which he moves his 245 pounds around the field has drawn the attention of scouts who project him as the prototype inside linebacker in a 3-4 alignment.

The Harrisburg, Pa., product started out on the weak side for UConn, a tribute to his mobility. Another tribute was his selection as MVP of a holiday basketball tournament as a high school senior.

Voted team captain as a junior, Lansanah had 121 tackles in 2007, 14 of them for a loss. He also equaled his four interceptions as a junior. He was All Big East, and his 9.7 tackles per game was third in the league.

Lansanah was involved in a "drive-by" incident in 2005 in which a car window was shot out by a pellet gun in the parking lot of a Willimantic, Conn., convenience store. Lansanah was neither the driver nor the shooter, however, and the incident eventually melted into reduced charges and suspensions.
