Dallas signed its franchise player, free safety Ken Hamlin, to a six-year, $39 million deal Tuesday, ensuring the Cowboys have their secondary in place for years to come.

Hamlin, a former Seahawk, made the Pro Bowl in 2007 after accumulating five interceptions and breaking up 15 passes.

The Cowboys have cornerbacks Terence Newman and Anthony Henry and safety Roy Williams extended past this season, and during the offseason they added corners Adam Jones (via trade) and Mike Jenkins (first-round pick) to help support their defensive backfield.

Commentary: Hamlin plays a good center field for the Cowboys. With talent among the Cowboys' cornerbacks as well as a strong front seven, Hamlin can patrol the middle of the field and capitalize on the pressure his defensive linemen and linebackers create on the quarterback.

Fantasy Impact: Hamlin will likely lead the Cowboys in interceptions, and the defensive unit will be among the highest scoring in the league.
