Former Texas A&M standout and current Dallas Cowboys linebacker Dat Nguyen is expected to announce his retirement in the coming weeks. The former 3rd round draft pick has played his entire career for Dallas since entering the league in '99.

Nguyen's 2005 campaign was hampered by knee and neck injuries. He missed eight games this past season and was placed on the injured reserve in November. If Nguyen does indeed retire, he will finish his career with 511 total tackles, 6 sacks, and 7 interceptions.

Not bad for a guy who was born in a refugee camp when his parents fled the country after the fall of Saigon in 1975 and was also considered too small to play middle linebacker in the NFL. Though injury looks to have cut short what seemed to be a promising career, Dat Nguyen did contribute seven solid seasons of football to the Dallas Cowboys and was a team leader throughout his tenure with the team. His contributions will he be missed should he decide to walk away from the game.
