With the Dallas Cowboys coming off their bye week, conventional wisdom says that there's a good chance America's Team will overlook a Tennessee Titans team that came close to beating the Miami Dolphins on Sunday; and look ahead to their Week 5 trip to Philadelphia.

There are two reasons that this will not happen.

First, the rebuilding Titans simply don't have the talent to match up with the Cowboys. The fact that Tennessee almost beat the Dolphins tells you more about how inept the Fish are, than about how much the Titans may be improving.

The Titans are only averaging 63 yards a game rushing; and while Kerry Collins is OK if given time to throw, get in his face and it's a different story entirely. Collins has a feeble 42.3 passer rating and has already thrown six picks.

Tennessee's defense is no bargain, either. It's given up a whopping 167 yards on the ground per contest to the likes of the abovementioned Dolphins and the New York Jets - neither of which have stellar running attacks. Additionally, the Titans' pass defense ranks 20th in the NFL, giving up 222 yards per game in the air.

But a big talent discrepancy doesn't always translate to a victory in the NFL, which brings us to the second reason the Cowboys will not lose this game.

Very simply, Bill Parcells won't allow them to. In his coaching career, Tuna is a stellar 8-3 after bye weeks. This is part of what makes him a great coach - he rarely allows his teams to lapse into a false sense of security.

Looking at the Cowboys' schedule, five out of their next seven games are on the road. In addition to Philly, Dallas travels to Carolina, Washington and Arizona. Because none of those contests will be easy, a victory over the Titans becomes paramount.

You can be sure that Tuna will read the team the riot act to ensure that they get that message. And they will - you can take it to the bank.
