The Dallas Cowboys received a pledge to host a future Super Bowl game from NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue. The move is conditional on the team building a new stadium.

The Cowboys have tried to entice the voters of Arlington, Texas with a championship game in order to get public funding for half of the proposed stadium's $650 million cost.

The taxes would go toward offsetting the price of a new retractable-roof facility capable of seating 75,000 fans. It is scheduled to open in time for the 2009 season.
