Shut up, Terrell

Terrell Owens can't stop throwing people under the bus.

Former Dallas Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells retired Monday, leaving the door wide open for T.O. to provide his usual crass commentary. The overrated, aging wide receiver threw in a couple compliments for good measure, comparing Parcells to a grandmotherly figure, then proceeded to tear down the 65-year-old.

"Parcells' coaching style hurt us. You don't know who is doing what," Owens said. "You don't know who is calling plays. That is why our offense was up and down. You saw that at the end of the year. It filtered off. We as a team felt the frustration. I felt the frustration. But Bill is Bill."

Although Parcells, a future Hall of Famer, doesn't exactly have the kindest personality in the world, he tried his best to cater to Owens this past season. Dallas, to the obvious chagrin of the sergeant-like Parcells, signed Owens to a hefty contract last offseason.

Parcells did all he could to make the relationship work. The Cowboys' offense was built around Owens, perhaps the most controversial individual in the NFL. The highly talented 33-year-old had extremely impressive numbers on the surface: 85 receptions, 1,180 yards, 13 touchdowns. Not seen on the immediate stat line, however, is Owens' league-leading 18 drops, which regularly hampered 9-7 Dallas.

The Cowboys, who entered this past season with Super Bowl aspirations, saw their goals fall short in the first weekend of the playoffs in Seattle. Quarterback/field goal holder Tony Romo famously fumbled away an easy snap that would have set up a chip-shot, game-winning field goal from Martin Gramatica. After the game, Owens was seen in the Dallas locker room consoling Romo. Any right-minded individual knows it was simply an act.

Prior to slinging mud on the newly retired Parcells, Owens did the same to former Dallas starting QB Drew Bledsoe during the season. No. 81 regularly had disputes with receivers coach Todd Haley, too. Supposedly, Haley was unhappy with Owens for falling asleep during team meetings, showing up late and failing to respect authority. How terrible of you, Todd. You never should have expected Owens to do anything but care about himself, not the team.

Owens' problems in Dallas certainly aren't his first. The 11-year veteran had plenty of issues in San Francisco, where he threw former head coach Steve Mariucci, ex-offensive coordinator Greg Knapp and three-time Pro Bowl QB Jeff Garcia under the bus. The wideout did the same in Philadelphia to classy signal caller Donovan McNabb, head coach Andy Reid and former offensive coordinator Brad Childress.

If Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was smart, he'd end the Owens era in Irving immediately. No team will ever reach its goals with the 6-foot-3, 224-pounder on the roster. He's an incurable cancer both in the locker room and on the field.

Perhaps Terrell will realize the error of his ways when he's inevitably playing for the Montreal Alouettes, Toronto Argonauts or any of the Canadian Football League's other seven teams in a couple years. Soon enough, no NFL franchise will be willing to put up with Owens' awful attitude.

The bottom line is that Terrell Owens is a jerk. As of now, there's no reformation in sight.
