Williams and Freeman have been released

The Miami Dolphins have released defensive end Jay Williams and safety Arturo Freeman today.

Both players will be salary cap casualties. Williams is scheduled to earn a base salary of $900,000 with a roster bonus of $400,000. Freeman is to make a base salary of $3 million and is due a roster bonus of $300,000 in early March.

Coach Nick Saban has inherited a team more than $15 million over the salary cap limit. Saban has until next Wednesday to make the moves necessary to get the payroll at or under $85.5 million.
