Miami Dolphins fans won't have to watch in agony as yet another sure pass is dropped and another drive is stalled by the unsteady hands of Derrius Thompson.

Thompson had been placed on injured reserve last week after suffering a groin injury. He looked impressive in the final preseason game of the season, but apparently the coaching did not feel that he could contribute in a meaningful way to the Miami Dolphins' offense. This move will mean that Wes Welker will likely get a more significant role on offense this year.

In two seasons with the Dolphins, Derrius Thompson caught only 49 passes for just over 700 yards with four touchdowns (all of the TDs were scored last year).
