Talk about a steal! Every time I see Channing Crowder streaking across the field to make a play on the ball I realize just how fortunate the Miami Dolphins were to have him slip all the way into the third round.

This kid clearly had first round talent, but injury concerns and off-field troubles made him fall way down on most team's draft charts. Thankfully, Nick Saban had the vision to realize that this guy, when healthy, is a Pro Bowl-caliber linebacker.

The stat line for last week's game against the Broncos doesn't tell you much; 3 tackles (1 solo). However, if you watched the game you saw the rookie linebacker always seem to find a way to be around the ball. You saw a player that seemed amped up after every tackle. You saw a team player that recognizes his assignments and responsibilities on the field.

The mere fact that he is starting says a lot about his abilities. Remember that we brought in Donnie Spragan during the offseason to start at the weak-side linebacker position. This is a guy who was a starter for the past three seasons at Denver.

Channing Crowder stole his starting spot and is now poised to steal the spotlight on the Miami Dolphins defensive front.
