Everyone knows that the Miami Dolphins are 6-4 and are currently riding a four-game winning streak. Everyone also knows that they’re approaching a pivotal AFC East matchup against the New England Patriots that could determine their postseason destiny. It’s also fairly common knowledge that the “Wildcat” formation has paved the way for a Ronnie Brown Pro Bowl run (he currently leads the voting in the AFC) and a Ricky Williams resurgence. Lastly, most folks are cognizant of the fact that veterans Chad Pennington and Joey Porter have gone from over the hill to top of the heap in NFL circles.

However, here are a few things that everyone might not know:

1) While Miami’s third-down struggles have been well-documented, it's surprisingly effective at converting fourth downs. The Dolphins are currently converting at a 80 percent clip, having gained first-down yardage on 8 of 10 attempts.

2) Porter has more sacks (14) than the rest of his team (13), but that’s not so bad when you consider that Porter also has more sacks than two teams: The Cincinnati Bengals have just 11 sacks and the Kansas City Chiefs have only six.

3) As amazing as it might be to believe, the Dolphins do not have the worst kick coverage in the NFL. That dubious honor belongs to the Minnesota Vikings, who have already tied the league's single-season record for special teams TDs allowed (six), and they still have six games left to play. The Dolphins are at the bottom of the league in yardage allowed but have only surrendered two special teams touchdowns.

4) On Sunday, the Dolphins have an opportunity to sweep the Patriots this season. The last time they did that was 2000, and that just happens to also be the last time the Dolphins won a playoff game.

5) The Dolphins currently boast a plus-7 turnover ratio. If they can finish the season in double digits, it will be the first time since – you guessed it – the 2000 season.

6) Pennington has thrown for 2,374 yards through 10 games and should easily surpass the 3,000-yard plateau by season’s end. Pennington has only done that twice in his career, in 2002 and 2006. Sure enough, he led his team to the postseason in both of those campaigns.
