Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter needs to realize that being a professional athlete puts him in the spotlight. Is it fair to have to watch your back in certain situations? No. But then again, there is a price to pay for making millions of dollars to play a sport. Chalk it up to responsibility and being a mature human being, something both Porter and New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress have shown they can't always do.

Commentary: Earlier this week, Porter defended Burress, his ex-teammate, saying pro athletes need to carry firearms. Burress, of course, accidentally shot himself in the leg earlier this month.

"It was a mistake by [Plax]. I know he wish he never did it," Porter told ESPN. "But I don't think it's as bad as everybody made it seem, either."

The best advice for pro athletes: Stay out of situations that might put you in harm's way. That's something Porter doesn't seem to understand. Oftentimes, players looking for trouble are the ones who end up on the wrong side of a gun's wrath (excepting the likes of Sean Taylor and Richard Collier).

Fan Pulse: Whom do the Dolphins have the best chance of beating if they make the playoffs? Dolphins fans are undecided.

Fantasy Football Commentary: The Dolphins' Ronnie Brown has fizzled out after a great start; he's still a decent second fantasy option at RB.

Injury Watch: The starters for Miami are looking healthy for Week 15, a good sign for the team as it tries to make a playoff run.
