Lance Schulters' penchant for big plays helped the Miami Dolphins earn a victory on Sunday, and helped him earn "AFC Defensive Player of the Week" honors on Wednesday. Schulters received the award after recording four tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, and a game-changing interception in the final minutes of the Miami Dolphins' victory over the Carolina Panthers.

Lance Schulters was picked up as a free agent in the offseason after being released by the Tennessee Titans due to salary cap issues. He was a Pro Bowl caliber safety and a locker room leader for the Titans for several years, but was hampered by injuries in 2004.

He spent most of the preseason backing up Yeremiah Bell, but earned the starting spot just before the start of the regular season.
