Based upon trends, we can assume that quarterback Chad Pennington's arm will fall off next season, then he will have it surgically reattached like the Six Million Dollar Man in 2010 and win the NFL's comeback player of the year honors for the third time. The Dolphins' Pennington took the award for the second time in three years, an impressive feat for a player many had given up on.

Commentary: Let's do the league one better and say Pennington deserves to be its MVP for the 2008 season. Can you imagine where the Dolphins would have ended up this season without the steady Pennington, whom the Jets released in the summer? It's probably fair to say they wouldn't have gone 11-5 and won the AFC East with, say, John Beck or Chad Henne under center.

Pennington's ability during the season to turn around the Dolphins, a team that was dead in the water in 2007 at 1-15, was unbelievable. Linebacker Joey Porter called Pennington the team's savior, which makes sense considering the resurrection the club's made.

For that, he's the MVP.

Fan Pulse: Some posters on the Phins.com forum have visions of the New England Patriots Super Bowl squad">2001 New England Patriots Super Bowl squad dancing through their heads when they see this year's Dolphins team.

Fantasy Football Commentary:
Seeing as it is the new year, why don't we look ahead to 2009 fantasy drafts? The Dolphins aren't a flashy bunch, so don't expect any of their skill guys to get much play as far as fantasy football is concerned; however, Pennington could be one of the first 10 QBs picked in most drafts.

Injury Watch:
TE David Martin didn't practice Wednesday with a head injury. He is questionable for Sunday's wild-card game against the Baltimore Ravens.
