After watching CB Reggie Howard turn in two sub par performances at the slot corner position, Nick Saban has given recently acquired CB Kiwaukee Thomas some snaps with the first team. The Miami Dolphins must find a way to shore up that position, because they are giving up way too many big plays in the passing game. Starting cornerbacks Sam Madison and Travis Daniels must also step up their play, but it has been the slot or “nickel” position that has been the greatest source of discomfort for the Dolphins staff.

I'm not sure that Kiwaukee Thomas is the long-term solution, but we may find out a little more next Sunday when the Miami Dolphins take on the Buffalo Bills. Before joining the Dolphins, Thomas played with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has started 11 of 75 games in which he has appeared, playing mostly in nickel packages.
