Anyone care to guess which side of the ball the Miami Dolphins will use their first couple of draft picks on this April? Hint: It's likely not on defense. The Dolphins made a big splash on the eve of free agency last week, signing big-hitting safety Gibril Wilson to a five-year deal worth $27.5 million.

The acquisition automatically improves the Dolphins' defense. Wilson, who had 129 tackles last season for Oakland, brings an intensity level that will make him and strong safety Yeremiah Bell -- who re-signed for four years -- a pair which will force wide receivers to keep their heads on a swivel.

Don't be deceived by the Raiders' release of Wilson as an indicator that his skills are lacking. The Raiders were looking to clear some cap room because of past foolish signings. Wilson, also a former Giant, will play well under Tony Sparano and brings championship experience to a team hungry for more playoff appearances. Don't fret, Dolphin fans. Bill Parcells knows defensive talent and he saw a lot of potential in Wilson.

We suspect he will have a career year next season.
