San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis was the sixth overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft and received plenty of exposure, but it's Illinois cornerback Vontae Davis, his brother, who could end up on top in the Davises battle for respect in the pros.

Vontae Davis could go a long way in a few seasons by landing with the disciplined defense of the Miami Dolphins. Davis plays a similar game to the Houston Texans' Dunta Robinson, another headhunting corner with great athleticism.

Like most college corners, Davis relied on his instincts to keep him out of trouble. He won't be allowed to gamble as much in the NFL. Arizona Cardinals corner Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie will tell you that much. But Davis is a quick learner, hard worker and will likely catch up to the speed of the game.

Whether unfair or not, hearing his brother's name automatically sparks the question of whether Vontae Davis is going to be a troublemaker. That shouldn't be a worry, though, as it appears he has his head on straight; in addition, he told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel he would love to play for the Dolphins, who could take him 25th overall in this month's draft.

"I like the coaching staff and who could ask for a better place to play than Miami,'' said Davis.

Davis to Miami in Round 1 would be an excellent fit, but don't be surprised if the Texans and New Orleans Saints scoop him up before then. If he is there at 25, though, the allure of adding to the cornerback position may be too much to pass on for the Dolphins.
