Miami Dolphins rookie running back Ronnie Brown has a chance to make up some ground on his college buddy and fellow 1st round draft pick Cadillac Williams. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers budding star got off to a record breaking start and seemed well on his way to outpacing Brown and literally running away with rookie of the year honors.

However, this past weekend against the Detroit Lions, the Cadillac busted a tire. Williams rushed for only 13 yards on 11 carries before being forced to sit out with a hamstring pull and a sore foot. His injuries are not considered serious, but it is unclear whether or Cadillac Williams will suit up for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when they face off against the Giants next Sunday. In four games, he has 447 yards on 99 carries. That's an average of 4.5 yards per carry.

On the flipside, Ronnie Brown has had a week to rest up and is coming off the best performance of his young career. Brown is expected to carry the load on Sunday when the Miami Dolphins face off against a porous Buffalo Bills run defense. He will need to have a monstrous game to match Cadillac's four game statistics. As of now, Ronnie brown has gained 224 yards on 57 carries. That's an average of 3.9 yards per carry.

Neither player has fumbled the ball thus far this season. That may be the most impressive stat of all.

One last note: After this weekend, the side by side comparisons between Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams are likely to stop. Why? Because after this weekend's game against the Bills Ricky Williams will return to the team and is likely to get at least 50% of the Dolphins carries. When that happens it will be difficult to gauge the two rookie runners side by side because of the disparity in carries.
