I almost forgot who our GM was, until he stepped out of the proverbial shadows to address the media yesterday. Randy Mueller held his first press conference as general manager of the Miami Dolphins despite the fact that he has been on the job for a little over four months already.

His name rarely makes the headlines and is rarely mentioned on the radio or on television. This is a huge contrast when you consider the amount of publicity (mostly negative) that our former GM Rick Spielman received.

Mueller is perfectly happy working in the background and letting Nick Saban do most of the talking. In his press conference, Mueller mentioned that he and Saban are on the same page and have meshed together well although he had to make some adjustments to how he approaches player evaluation. For example, he mentioned how a player's height is now a major factor because Saban likes his players to be tall.

Mueller touched on several other interesting topics in yesterday's press conference. Here is a brief sampling of some of the points that were brought up:
- Mueller would like to keep Ricky Williams if at all possible (he's the same guy who traded Ricky from the Saints to the Dolphins)
- He believes that the Miami Dolphins could be as much as $12 million below the cap after this season.
