This offseason, Kansas City Chiefs right guard Brian Waters has expressed his unhappiness to local newspapers about the way rookie coach Todd Haley and new general manager Scott Pioli have treated him. So, word is that he wants out.

And what is the biggest area of concern along the Miami Dolphins' offensive line? Right guard, of course. Donald Thomas will likely be back from injury when training camp starts, but the appeal of a Pro Bowl player like Waters may be too much to pass up. That doesn't mean the Dolphins should necessarily make a trade, though.

The Dolphins aren't in rebuilding mode, obviously, after having won the AFC East last season, but they also are filled with some veterans on the front line. Chad Pennington, Joey Porter and Jason Taylor aren't getting any younger. Waters is 32. Would the Dolphins want to take on another aging player? It would seem to reason that Waters doesn't have a ton left in the tank.

The upside for Waters is that he is reliable. As a starter, he has only missed two games. Thus, he's basically the anti-Thomas. For a team like Miami that suffered injuries on the offensive line last season, the stability of Waters would be nice.

There should be concern over what it would cost to get Waters. If it's not too high, then you go for it; but if the Chiefs are going to play hardball, what's the point?
