Maybe the Buffalo Bills are doing J.P. Losman a favor by sitting him on Sunday. The Miami Dolphins defense has been frightningly stout thus far and the well-rested Jason Taylor is due for a multisack performance.

Buffalo Bills head coach Mike Mularkey announced that Kelly Holcomb would get the starting nod over the Losman earlier today. Apparently, he feels that Holcomb gives the Bills a better chance to generate some passing offense against a suspect Miami Dolphins secondary.

The problem is that Holcomb might find himself on his back a lot on Sunday. The Dolphins have recorded seven sacks in three games and are coming off a bye, so they should have little trouble breaking through a Buffalo Bills offensive line that has given up an embarrasing number of sacks (11 to be exact).

The Bills will likely rely on their workhorse running back, Willis McGahee, but he might find the going much tougher this year. McGahee torched a weak Dolphins defense for 202 yards last season, but this year's unit is ranked 3rd in the NFL and has allowed only 76.3 yards per game and no touchdowns. If the Bills have trouble moving the ball and face third and long situations, you'd better believe that Jason Taylor and the rest of the Dolphins defensive front will be pinning their ears back and coming after Holcomb with a vengeance.

Maybe coach Mularkey saw the same problems and decided to spare his young quarterback from that onslaught. Or maybe he just thinks that Losman is no good. Either way, the Bills might be in for a long afternoon on Sunday.
