It was good to see Miami Dolphins guard Donald Thomas participating in full-contact drills today. And it was great to see him throw third-team defender Louis Ellis to the ground. The question is, can he continue to excel and work his way back into the starting position he occupied heading into the 2008 regular season?

Personally, I'm won't be convinced until I see two things:
1) That Thomas can stay healthy and on the field (he's suffered two major injuries in the past 12 months)
2) That Thomas can sustain his level of play against starting-caliber defenders, regaining the form that helped ascend from anonymity during last year's training camp and preseason.

Then again, I'm just glad that he's back on the field participating, because the guard position is one of Miami's weakest links, particularly in terms of depth. Hopefully, Thomas can turn help transform it from a position of a weakness to a position of strength.
