Can Dolphins’ Wilford challenge for “Comeback Player of the Year” award?

Ok, ok. Maybe I'm overreacting a bit. I understand that a touchdown against backups, late in an early preseason game, does not make for a season. It doesn't even make for a secured spot on the 53-man roster. Still, you have to admit that Ernest Wilford's third-quarter touchdown jaunt against the Jacksonville Jaguars makes the Miami Dolphins' experiment at tight end seem like it will pay big dividends.

Can Wilford challenge for "Comeback Player of Year" honors?

Sure, why not. However, I'll just settle for meaningful contributions throughout the course of the regular season, especially after watching him disappear into obscurity during the 2008 campaign.
