Ricky Williams' first touchdown in a Miami Dolphins uniform will absolve him of all past transgressions. Too over the top you say? Consider just how fast he went from being South Florida's hero to its public enemy #1.

If Williams can contribute to the Dolphins success in a meaningful way, fans will forget (notice I said forget and not forgive) about how he walked out on his team days before last year's opening of training camp. That's because most folks around these parts care about one thing and one thing only....Winning.

Now I'm not saying that his penchant for flipping out and walking away won't stay in the minds of the folks who sign his checks and hand out new contracts. On the contrary, his little "episode" last year is what will keep him signed with the Dolphins for several more seasons after this one.

However, the fans will quickly develop selective memory after Williams breaks off a long run or helps cement a victory with a big first down. I for one see nothing wrong with that. Ricky is back, and now that he's teamed with the emerging Ronnie Brown, we could be on the verge of having the best rushing attack in the NFL.

Wouldn't that be something?
