The Miami Dolphins came in to Friday night's game against the Kansas City Chiefs with an undefeated record at home in 2005 as they tried to even their season mark after suffering 3 defeats on the road. Instead, it was the Chiefs (4-2) that left with an impressive 30-20 win in which they owned the Dolphins (2-4) for most of the evening.

Save for a few fortunate long plays, Miami's offense was unable to get anything going. Meanwhile, our defense lit up like a Jack-O-Lantern. The scary numbers:
- Dolphins got 9 first downs, Chiefs made 24.
- Miami converted 3 of 13 third downs, KC did it 8 out of 17 times.
- Gus Frerotte 11 of 29 for 125 yards and 1 INT; Trent Green was 20/34 for 289 yds.
- Ricky Williams 6 carries, -1 yards. Their backup, Larry Johnson finished with 93 yds and a TD on 23 carries.

The first half started badly for the Dolphins as the Chiefs marched down the field on the first possession of the game, an 8 play 80 yard drive that culminated with a Priest Holmes 5 yard run. In the second quarter, Kansas City put together a 10 play, 80 yard drive that ended with Larry Johnson's 2 yard touchdown. Meanwhile, Miami's offense could not get in a groove, settling for 2 short Olindo Mare field goals after failing to convert on red zone opportunities in the second period.

Down 14-6 at halftime, Ronnie Brown took the first snap of the second half for 65 yard run as a Chiefs defender failed to knock the runner out of bounds or wrap him up after a big hit. Brown raced down the left sidelines to make the score 14-13. KC answered right back on 2 plays, the last being a 35 yard TD scamper by Holmes down the right side to open a 21-13 lead. At least backup QB Sage Rosenfels gave Dolphins fans something to cheer for when he connected with Chris Chambers for a 77 yard touchdown on his first and only play of the game.

Miami suffered several injuries, mostly on the defensive side of the ball. CB Sam Madison suffered a hip injury and SS Tebucky Jones left the field with pain in his chest muscle. DE/DT Kevin Carter suffered problems in his calf and FS Lance Schulters bruised his thigh. WR Marty Booker twisted his ankle in the final period. LB Junior Seau was inactive again.

The Dolphins must now regroup if they have any hope of salvaging this season. Miami travels to Baton Rouge next week to face the New Orleans Saints (2-4).
