Dolphins sign free agent safety Travares Tillman

MIAMI, Florida - The Miami Dolphins signed free agent safety Travares Tillman as part of the team's effort to replenish their depleted secondary. The 6' 1", 190 lbs. Tillman had 5 tackles in just 6 games with the Carolina Panthers last season before missing the rest of the games with a broken arm. He has appeared in just 13 games over the last 2 years for Carolina.

The Dolphins released starting FS Arturo Freeman and backup Shawn Wooden earlier this offseason. The Fins are not expected to re-sign starting SS Sammy Knight, who is an unrestricted free agent.

A 5 year veteran, Tillman has 69 tackles and 1 INT in 41 games, including 11 starts. Tillman was a 2nd round draft pick in 2000 by Buffalo. He spent 3 seasons with the Bills prior to joining the Panthers.
