Trade rumors are starting to reach a boiling point. Several teams have expressed interest in trading for the Miami Dolphins #2 pick. At least two NFL teams, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Minnesota Vikings, have been linked to trades that would move Miami out of the #2 spot.

Minnesota has also contacted several other teams including the San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns. The Vikings have two first round picks to bargain with, and are allegedly looking to land coveted Michigan wide receiver Braylon Edwards.

The Bucs have been looking to move up from the fifth pick in order to land Utah quarterback Alex Smith. They have contacted both the Dolphins and the 49ers.

The scenarios for the top 5 picks in this year's draft have become increasingly intriguing as we approach the weekend. Contract issues with both Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers have complicated matters. The 49ers who seemed set on Rodgers early on, are now waffling. The Miami Dolphins, led by the cryptic Nick Saban, seemed to have their crosshairs pointed at Ronnie Brown. However, recent South Florida visits by Alex Smith and Braylon Edwards have muddied the waters a bit. Of course all of these rumors could simply be ruled out as posturing. It is a well known fact that the cash strapped 49ers and rebuilding Dolphins are looking to trade down and maximize their overall number of picks while avoiding the hefty cap numbers associated with signing top first round players.

None of these alleged trade scenarios are set in stone yet, but things should really begin to heat up in the next three days.
