Junior Seau has good reason for prolonging his Hall of Fame career. The 16 year veteran is coming off surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle, and has admitted that he considered retirement in these past few months. However, the prospect of playing in Nick Saban's hybrid 4-3/3-4 defense most likely played a strong role in convincing the seasoned linebacker to suit up for one more season. Seau spent most of his career playing in a similar system when he was with the San Diego Chargers.

Seau expressed gratitude for Nick Saban's personal request that he return to the Dolphins. He was quoted as saying that "It was nice to have Nick call me up and say he wanted me to be part of this." If nothing else, Junior Seau provides excellent leadership in the locker room and has a larger-than-life persona on the field - both during plays and in between plays - even though his best football is behind him. In addition, his salary cap number is relatively small. Seau's base salary dropped from $3 million to $1.15 million for this upcoming season. It's really no surprise that coach Saban has invited him to line up once again for the Miami Dolphins.
