- Will Poole is expected to have surgery on his left knee after swelling is reduced. The procedure to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament will likely take place in a week or so.

In the most optimistic scenario, the second-year cornerback could return to the Dolphins by October. However, his season would be finished if Miami places Poole on injured reserve. Instead, the team could place him on the physically unable to perform list. This option gives the Dolphins a chance to re-activate Poole after evaluating the condition of his surgically-repaired joint.

- In other news, Ruston Webster was promoted to director of player personnel by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs former director of college scouting had interviewed with the Dolphins last week.

The screening of Webster does not bode well for current general manager Rick Spielman. Now that Miami is searching for elegible candidates for his position, Spielman is not believed to continue in his current capacity with the team before the start of the season.
