The Miami Dolphins today named Tim Davis as their assistant offensive line coach and Bert Hill as their associate strength coach.

Davis joins the Dolphins with more than 15 years of experience at the collegiate level, including the last three with the national champion USC Trojans. In Davis' three years there, the team won a major bowl game each season and claimed at least a share of the national championship the last two years. He was in charge of the Trojans' guards and centers in his first year at the school before handling the entire line in 2003. In Davis' two years in this capacity, USC yielded a total of only 40 sacks, an average of 1.5 per game. In 2003, tackle Jacob Rogers was a consensus All-America selection and went on to become a second-round draft choice of Dallas in 2004.

Davis first went to USC in 2002 following a five-year stint (1997-2001) as tight ends/offensive tackles coach at the University of Wisconsin. The Badgers played in a bowl game in four of Davis' five seasons at the school, where he got his start in the coaching profession as a volunteer assistant in 1983 and 1986, and a graduate assistant from 1984-85. After one more year as a graduate assistant, at the University of Arizona in 1987, Davis landed his first full-time coaching position the following year, as offensive coordinator at Walla Walla (Wash.) Community College. He moved on to Idaho State as offensive line coach in 1989 before being named to the same post at Utah in 1990, a spot which he manned for the next seven seasons.

After beginning his collegiate career at Chabot Junior College in Hayward, Calif., Davis went on to become a three-year letterman as an offensive tackle at Utah, from 1978-80. He earned his degree in physical education from the Salt Lake City school in 1982, and his master's degree in higher education from Wisconsin in 1986. Following his collegiate playing career, he spent the 1981 season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League and 1983 with the Los Angeles Express of the USFL.

From 1990-2000, Hill was on the staff of the Detroit Lions. For his first eight years with the club, he served as strength and conditioning/assistant defensive line coach. From 1998-2000, he was strength and conditioning/assistant offensive line coach. Hill joined the Lions following a one-year stop (1989) as strength and conditioning coach at Texas A&M, his second tour of duty at the College Station school, having served in the same capacity there from 1983-87. While Hill was on that staff, the Aggies won three straight Southwest Conference titles, from 1985-87. In 1988, he held the same title at Ohio State.

Hill got his start in the coaching profession as assistant defensive line/assistant strength coach at Nicholls State in 1981. That preceded a one-year stint as assistant strength and conditioning coach at Auburn in 1982.

Hill played linebacker at Marion (Ala.) Military Institute Junior College from 1976-77 and at Wichita State in 1978. He earned his bachelor's degree in physical education from Auburn-Montgomery in 1980 and master's degree in physical education with an emphasis in strength physiology from Auburn University in 1982.

Since 2001 Hill, has worked in private business in Dallas, Texas. He also has co-authored several books on the discipline of strength and conditioning.
