The Miami Dolphins signed 3 more rookie free agents after evaluating their skills at the mini-camp held 2 weeks ago. Offensive guard Bobby Meeks, strong safety Atari Bigby, and free safety Abram Elam all have ties to the state of Florida.

The 24 year-old Meeks played collegiate football at FSU, where he was a main cog in the team's blocking schemes the last couple of years. Meeks was tough enough to play through shoulder injuries and versatile enough to play all the positions on the offensive line. The 6'3", 300 lbs. road paver was a highly-recruited native of Texas. Meeks was arrested during the 2004 offseason for resisting a arrest outside a Tallahassee bar. However, the felony charges were reduced to misdemeanors and he was given 1 year of probation.

Atari Bigby starred at the safety position for the University of Central Florida. The 23 year-old ran a 4.65 second time in the 40 yard dash prior to the draft. The 5'11", 214 lbs. Bigby was named to the All-Mid American Conference team after his sophomore and junior seasons. Originally a product of Miami Senior High, his hard-hitting style may serve him well on special teams.

The 23 year-old Abram Elam runs a 4.55 40. He had 3 interceptions returned for 105 yards during his senior season at Kent State University in Ohio. The 6'0", 206 lbs. safety also had 16 punt returns for 147 yards during his college career, which began at Notre Dame. He transferred after being convicted of sexual battery on September 1, 2003 in South Bend, Indiana. He served 2 years of probation for the battery conviction, but nonetheless earned a scholarship at Kent St.

Elam is a Riviera Beach native who got his associates degree from Palm Beach Community College and previously attended Cardinal Newman High.
