Ricky Williams wants to return to the Miami Dolphins, but not for the league minimum. That seems to be the message coming from the reefer-plagued running back. According to agent Lee Steinberg, Ricky Williams would like his base salary to be $3.7 million.

However, some legal experts have asserted that the Miami are not obligated to pay him more than the veteran minimum $540,000 under his old New Orleans Saints contract because Williams breached his deal with the Dolphins last year.

Chances are that the two sides will meet somewhere in the middle. League arbitration is not out of the question if the two sides cannot come to an agreement on their own. Ricky is not expected report to training camp until July 28th anyway, so there seems to be plenty of time for a compromise. Let the Ricky Williams contract watch begin!
