The Miami Dolphins named Randy Mueller as their new GM. He will now work with coach Nick Saban on personnel matters. Mueller is replacing Rick Spielman, who stepped down last week from the general manager post.

Mueller spent 17 years with the Seattle Seahawks. He became their vice president of football operations in 1995. Mueller then served as a general manager for the New Orleans Saints in 2000-01. After being fired by the Saints, he worked as an ESPN analyst the last 3 years.

Mueller initially interviewed for the Dolphins' GM job before last season.
