Miami Dolphins safety Travares Tillman had successful surgery to repair torn cartilage in his left knee. Cartilage damage in the knee joint is typically a degenerative injury that gets progressively worse with time, but cutting edge medical techniques have prolonged the careers of athletes with this type of injury. In fact, Patrick Surtain has suffered from a similar condition for years, yet has been able to maintain his status as one of the top five cornerbacks in the NFL.

Travares Tillman underwent the surgery yesterday after suffering the injury this past Saturday at minicamp. The Miami Dolphins hope to have him back in time for the opening of training camp on July 24th. Tillman is a five year veteran who has recorded 69 tackles and one interception in 41 games (11 starts). He spent last season playing for the Carolina Panthers.
