- Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams was granted early reinstatement to the NFL's substance-abuse program. Williams will be subject to 10 random drug tests per month for the rest of his NFL career. He still faces a 1 year ban should he fail or miss a drug test as a 2 time offender of the league's policies.

However, Williams still has to wait until July 28 to rejoin the Dolphins. That date marks the anniversary of his retirement, which was considered a third failed drug test. As it is, Williams still faces a 4 game suspension to begin the season as a result of a second failed drug test for marijuana in 2004 before he quit football.

- Tight end Jason Rader signed with the Miami Dolphins earlier this week. The 6 foot 4 inch, 274 pound Rader impressed NFL scouts while playing this past season with NFL Europe's Rhein Fire. The 24 year-old free agent had 21 receptions for 189 yards for the Fire in 2005. He went to camp with Atlanta in 2004 as an undrafted college free agent before being released prior to the regular season. Rader transferred to Marshall University (2002-03) in native state of West Virginia after playing at the University of Georgia (1999-2000).

- The Miami Dolphins hired 2 more college scouts, adding to what is considered one of the costliest coaching staffs in the NFL.

Ellis Rainsberger will scout the Midwest in the Dolphins' system. In 1990, Rainsberger worked as an assistant for coach Nick Saban at the University of Toledo. He has worked 12 years as a scout in the NFL. Rainsberger has served the past 5 seasons in that capacity with the Tennessee Titans.

Jack Glowik begins his NFL tenure in Miami covering the Mid-Central states in the Dolphins' scouting system. He spent 25 years as an assistant in the collegiate ranks, including the last 6 at Northwestern University.

Furthermore, the Dolphins announced that John Crea, a scout with the team for the past 4 years, will not be returning in 2005. Yet another remnant of the Dave Wannstedt/Rick Spielman era is eliminated.
