Duh! The Miami Dolphins have confirmed the obvious for us dumb fans and media members. They have announced that A.J. Feeley and Gus Frerotte will battle for the starting quarterback spot during training camp.

Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban has been non-committal about the quarterback situation throughout the off-season. Now he has confirmed what most of us already know. That he and his coaching staff aren't sure of who should be the starting QB yet. They will give both frontrunners a chance to prove their worthiness when training camp opens on July 24th.

At this point, I would have to say that Gus Frerotte has a major advantage because he is familiar with the offensive system that the Miami Dolphins will use. Frerotte came over from the Minnesota Vikings this off-season, which just happens to be where our new offensive coordinator, Scott Linehan, came from as well.

A.J. Feeley has an edge as well. He's more talented! Feeley clearly has the stronger arm, but it will be his consistency (or lack thereof) and his knowledge of the new offensive system that will determine if the relative youngster can hold onto the starting roll that he had for the majority of the 04' season.
