A New era of Miami Dolphins radio will be ushered in when Joe Rose and Jimmy Cefalo jump into the radio booth to call games for 790 AM "The Ticket" this fall. Rose and Cefalo were teammates on the Miami Dolphins from 1980 to 1984. Cefalo was a wide receiver while Rose played tight end. Though neither player was considered marquee, both men have become quite popular in the South Florida community because of their post-football broadcasting careers.

Joe Rose, who will be the color analyst, hosts the morning drive-time talk show for 790 AM. He is also the sports director for WTVJ-TV (Channel 6), which is the local NBC affiliate. Jimmy Cefalo, who will handle the play-by-play, is the sports director for WPLG-TV (Channel 10), which is the local ABC affiliate. He also has a radio show on Saturdays for 790 AM.

While I am happy for both former Dolphins players, and I am confident that they will do a great job, I am also saddened by the fact that I will no longer be able to hear former color analyst Jim Mandich call the games. Mandich, who is a member of the 1972 Miami Dolphins, had a special flare for the dramatic. His screams, yells, and catch phrases (all right Miami!) will be sorely missed. Jim can still be heard on his radio talk show from 4PM to 7PM on 560 WQAM.
