The Miami Dolphins took a step towards shoring up the O-line one day after losing Wade Smith to a broken forearm. They went out and signed free agent center Alonzo Ephraim. The young center spent his last two seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, playing in 30 games and starting two of them. To make room for Ephraim on the roster, the Miami Dolphins were forced to cut free agent linebacker Derek Curry.

Wade Smith was shifted over to the center position by Coach Nick Saban during the offseason. He was slated to be the backup behind starter Seth McKinney. Smith is now expected to miss a least a few regular season games while healing from his injuries.
