I know that it's only the preseason, but Ricky Williams looked good toting the rock last night! He was fleet of foot, flaunted explosive acceleration, was nifty and elusive, and put the hammer down when contact was inevitable. Basically, he looked like the All-Pro back that the Miami Dolphins used to have a few seasons ago.

Forget about the obscure sound bites and the hobo looking beard. Ricky Williams knows how to play football. When he suited up for the Miami Dolphins, he always demonstrated unique talent. Now that he has taken a year off, his legs look fresher than ever. This might be the key to his impressive performance last night and may pay huge dividends for the team later this year.

In his two full seasons suiting up for the Miami Dolphins, Ricky Williams carried the football nearly 800 times. By the end of that two year stint the workhorse back looked to have lost that explosive first step and some of his elusiveness. Now he is back on the field weighing less than he ever has in his 5-year career. He is making all sorts of cutbacks and stop-and-start movements and flaunts the acceleration of a sports car.

Hopefully, he can keep his nose (and his bong) clean and help get this franchise turned around in the right direction this year.
