By far the biggest news of the new NFL season is the signing of Michael Vick by the Philadelphia Eagles. Last Thursday evening, Vick was signed to a two year deal; '09 guaranteed at $1.8 million and an option in '10 that would garner him $5.3 million. There is also $3 million in incentives included in the contract. The biggest question is: Will Vick be able to help the Eagles and be worth the contract he was given? I think that it is a resounding, YES!

Donovan McNabb has been at the helm of the Eagles offense for his whole 11 year career. He had a pretty decent season last year and led the team to a 9-6-1 record, with the tie against the Cleveland Browns being the backbreaker to their playoff hopes. Micheal Vick comes into the '09 campaign having missed the last two seasons due to a federal dogfighting charge in which he pulled 18 months of a 23 month sentence. There were not many teams who played the consistient ball that the Eagles played last year. McNabb was there the whole time but will Vick be able to contribute?

Mike Vick will be a factor in the Eagles' offense this season. McNabb's numbers from last year are just too good to let a man who has sat out the last two years from taking his snaps. I honestly believe that you will see Michael Vick play some tailback this year. Either way, Mike Vick is gonna help make the Eagles a contender this year. You can count on me for that bit of advice!
