The Falcons are keeping FS Deke Cooper in the NFC South.

Atlanta signed the 30-year-old free agent to a contract Saturday; terms of the deal were not released. Cooper started 15 games for Carolina last season, making three interceptions and 46 tackles. He played in Carolina in 2002 and 2007, with stops in Jacksonville and San Francisco mixed in.

Commentary: Cooper was the 2002 NFL Europa Defensive MVP after leading the league with six interceptions. He's well-traveled, but the Falcons are a team in flux right now, and any positive veteran presence they can get will be a bonus.

Fantasy Impact: None
